Summer is coming to an end, and it’s been a good one. Work has carried on quietly in the background, with a few bigger projects taking shape alongside some smaller ones. It’s been nice to get plenty done while still enjoying the slower pace of summer.

I’ve always liked that fresh start feeling that comes with September, when everyone comes back from the summer and things start picking up again. I’m looking forward to autumn and seeing a few of those summer projects finally make their way out into the world.

I live and work in Madrid, but most of the people I work with don’t.

A lot of my clients are in Brighton and elsewhere in the UK, with others dotted around further afield. In practice, it makes very little difference. Madrid is only an hour ahead of the UK, which actually works quite nicely. I’m already an hour into the day before the UK catches up.

It feels particularly normal now. Since the pandemic, people seem much less concerned about where everyone is. A video call with someone a few streets away isn’t really any different from one with me in Madrid.

I still get back to Brighton, and I like having that connection. But I also really like being able to live here and work with people pretty much anywhere.

There’s no account manager, project manager or sales team. If we work together, the person replying to your emails is the same person designing your work, building your website and sending you the invoice at the end.

It’s just me, which keeps things nice and simple for everybody.
